Ujjwala scheme was started by the government to provide gas cylinders to all economically weaker households. 8.3 crore families of the country have benefited under this scheme. The budget has been announced by our country's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 1 February 2021. In the budget, it has been announced to extend the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to 1 crore more beneficiaries. While presenting this budget, the Finance Minister also said that fuel has been supplied without any interruption during the Covid-19 lockdown. It was also informed by the Finance Minister that to provide CNG to automobiles, the city gas distribution network and piped cooking gas to homes will be expanded to 100 more districts.
Gas based economy will also be promoted through this budget. Under which a Transportation System Operator (TSO) has also been announced to regulate the general carrying capacity in the gas pipeline.
