The Ministry of Labor and Employment said in a statement that migrant workers can now avail social security benefits like accidental insurance and employment-based schemes by registering on the e-Shram portal and downloading the e-Shram card. The central government said that since its launch on August 26 this year, more than one crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram portal

“A major chunk of migrant workers are engaged in these areas of work. According to the Economic Survey 2019-20, there are an estimated 38 crore Unorganized Workers (UWs) in the country, who will be targeted to register on this portal. These migrant workers can also now avail of various social security and employment-based schemes through registration on the e-Shram portal,” the Ministry of Labor and Employment said in a statement.
