The Ministry of Labor and Employment said in a statement that migrant workers can now avail social security benefits like accidental insurance and employment-based schemes by registering on the e-Shram portal and downloading the e-Shram card. The central government said that since its launch on August 26 this year, more than one crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram portal
“A major chunk of migrant workers are engaged in these areas of work. According to the Economic Survey 2019-20, there are an estimated 38 crore Unorganized Workers (UWs) in the country, who will be targeted to register on this portal.
