The Government of Tripura has launched Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana. Through this scheme, the government is going to provide financial assistance of Rs 5000 per beneficiary in order to purchase smartphones. Only those students who pursued the final year of the undergraduate degree in the academic year 2020-21 will be eligible to get the benefit of the scheme. The student must have pursued an undergraduate degree from any Government College/ Institute/ University in Tripura. The smartphone should be purchased on or after 1st April 2021. Students are also required to submit physical copies of invoices at their respective institutes. The institutes are required to submit the physical copies to the directorate of Information technology after final verification. Both students who belong to APL or  BPL category can get the benefit from this scheme.

In order to get the benefit from this scheme, Students are required to upload a GST invoice if they purchased a mobile on the portal. This invoice must be duly countersigned and stamped by the government college/University/Institute authority with verification remarks. In addition to this the invoice must also contain the GST account number of the seller, name, and address of the shop from where purchased, name of the buyer (which could be his own or parents), IMEI number of the mobile set, date of purchase and purchase amount. Students are also required to upload the mark sheet of last semester.

Those students who have enrolled for some course in distance mode will not be eligible for the award of benefit. There are no minimum mark criteria for the award of Mukhymantri Yuba yoga Yojana. Final year failed students of the previous academic year (2019-20) will not receive benefits, however, those who have passed the previous year and regular students of the final year during the academic year 2020-21 will get the benefit irrespective of failing in the final year. Students can also purchase smartphones from an online platform.

Keeping its pre-poll promise ahead of the last assembly elections, the Tripura government has announced that it will provide smartphones to more than 15,000 undergraduate students under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Yogajug Yojana. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said 15,000 final-year students will be selected from 40 educational institutions, including 22 government degree colleges and two universities, and each of them will receive Rs 5000 for buying a smartphone in the current financial year.

The Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana has several benefits which a student in the final year of UG courses can avail of. The first benefit is the availability of Rs. 5,000. This financial assistance would be applicable to all students who are completing their graduation courses. Also with this grant amount of Rs. 5000, students would be able to buy smartphones and open doors to digitalization. Through the implementation of the CM Yuva Yogayog Yojana, the student will be able to get employment through internet platforms.

So, the govt. of Tripura has started Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana with the objective of providing smartphones to the final year students who can not afford them. Earlier in May 2021, the council of ministers took the decision of providing 15,000 final year students in 40 higher educational institutions and an amount estimated to be Rs 7.50 crore to be spent purpose. As per the commitment in the ‘Vision Document’, Mukhyamantri Yuva Yugayug Yojana was launched in the 2020-21 fiscal year, and 7,274 students in the final year were given smartphone spending an amount of Rs 3.67 crore, he added.

For FY 2021-22, applications are invited from the eligible candidates through bms.tripura.gov.in. The start date for online application for the free smartphone scheme in Tripura was 6 December 2021 while the last date to apply online is 7 January 2022. In the financial year 2021-22, a grant of Rs 5000 will be provided to 15,000 final-year students of Tripura for the procurement of smartphones. During the financial year 2020-21, a total 8,893 of college students throughout the state have applied and 7,274 of final year students got benefited from the scheme.

Around 15,000 students from 40 educational institutions have been selected to be given grants under Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana. These students are from 22 government degree colleges in Tripura.
