This scheme was started with the aim of providing social harmony to the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes in Haryana. This scheme was also operational in the past, but recently the period for applying for the incentive amount was extended and now the applicant can avail its benefits by applying for 3 years instead of 1 year.

Chief Minister Social Harmony Intercaste Marriage Shagun Scheme Haryana :-
This scheme is running in Haryana since 2016 but some important decisions have been taken on January 12. The decision related to this scheme was taken in a meeting of District and Tehsil Welfare Officers of Haryana. This meeting was presided over by Haryana's Scheduled Caste and Backward Class Welfare Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi.

Key Features of the Scheme:
Communal harmony and backward class welfare is the main objective of this scheme. Through this scheme, some amount will be given as incentive to those young men and women who have married in the backward class.
Under this scheme, if a boy or girl marries a Scheduled Caste in Haryana, then the couple will be given a reward of Rs 1.01 lakh.
Regarding this scheme, instructions have also been given that, if the applicant applies at the right time, he will get this benefit seven days before the marriage.
It is necessary to involve the MLA of the area or any other public representative in organizing such a marriage.
Regarding this scheme, instructions have also been given that the officials have to ensure that most of the needy people get the benefits of this scheme.

Eligibility for Chief Minister Social Marriage Harmony Scheme:
This scheme has been launched for Scheduled Castes. Therefore, in this scheme, it is mandatory for one of the bride or groom to be from the Scheduled Caste, and the other from the general category.
To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory for the bride and groom to be citizens of Haryana. Along with this, this should be the first marriage of both of them.
