The Post Office has launched the Five Star Village Scheme to expand its plans in the countryside (India Post). By this, people living in rural areas will get the benefit of government schemes. Under the Five Star Village scheme, all post office products and services will be available, marketed, and promoted at the rural level. For this, the post office will work as One-Stop Shop.

The Department of Posts has launched a scheme known as Five Star Villages. This will mainly help public awareness and access to postal products and services in remote villages. Under this scheme, especially all postal products and services will be made available at the village level and marketed and promoted.
Under this scheme, a village will be assigned to a team of five Gramin Dak Sevaks. They will have the responsibility to sell all products, savings, and insurance schemes in the villages. The team will be headed by the branch postmaster of the branch office concerned.
He also distributed Sukanya Samridhi Yojana passbooks, checkbooks, ATM Cards, and saving bank passbooks to the beneficiaries of senior citizens' welfare fund schemes. State Minister of Communication also chaired the review meeting of the Uttarakhand Postal circle at Dehradun’s General Post Office.
An official said, “We have identified fifty villages and each household of this village will be brought under the five different schemes like Postal Life Insurance (PLI), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), India Post Payment Bank (IPPB), Public Provident Fund (PPF), and Sukanya Samirdhi Yojana.”

Five Star Village Postal Scheme 2021 scheme has been launched by The Department of Posts. The aim of this scheme is universal coverage of all the flagship postal schemes in the remote and village areas of our country. Under this scheme, all the postal services and products will be made available and will be given publicity at the village level. The branch offices of the post offices will serve as a one-stop shop. The Union Minister Mr. Sanjay Dhotre, has distributed cheques of the unclaimed amounts to those account holders who are eligible to mark the beginning of the Five Star Village Postal. Pass-books were distributed to beneficiaries of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and ATMS and pass-books were distributed among the beneficiaries of the Senior Citizens Welfare Fund Scheme. The Union minister also interacted with the senior citizens to understand their expectations of Postal services.
The Government of Uttarakhand appreciated the work done by the people working in post offices during the COVID-19 lockdown. The government selected fifty villages from 7 districts of Uttarakhand. These 7 districts include 4 from the Khumon region and 3 from the Gharwal region. Chamoli, Almora, Pauri, Nainital, Tehri, and Pithoragarh were among the chosen districts. The Maharashtra Government has included Parbhani and Hingoli in Aurangabad Region; Akola and Washim in Nagpur Region; Kolhapur and Sangli in Goa Region; Solapur and Pandharpur in Pune Region; and Malegaon and Palghar in Navi Mumbai Region.
The scheme will be implemented by the teams of 5 Gram Sevak which will be assigned to a village for marketing the products and insurance and savings of schemes. this team will be headed by the Branch Post Master of each concerned Branch Office.
