The target of distributing two crore tablets and smartphones in the next 5 years by the Uttar Pradesh government has been set under this scheme. Bids for 25 lakh tablets and 35 lakh smartphones have also been published on the Gem portal. The selected organizations were asked to distribute 7.20 lakh tablets and 10.50 lakh smartphones in 90 days. But till 31 March 2022, only 1231983 devices have been completed.

In this regard, it has been decided by the government that the supply of 538017 devices will be resumed after 31 March 2022 to those students who are studying in the final year of the course or whose course duration is less than 1 year. Similarly, more than 25770 smartphones have been distributed in Lucknow, 24620 in Ambedkarnagar, 12990 in Moradabad, 10776 in Saharanpur, and 10346 in Muzaffarnagar. The distribution process under this scheme is being conducted under the supervision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with complete transparency and without any discrimination. In order to avoid any problems in the distribution process, 720000 tablets and more than 10,50,000 smartphones have been allotted to the districts for distribution. The first phase of distribution under this scheme was started on 25 September 2021.

On the occasion of Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday on 25th December 2021, free mobile and tablet will be provided to 1 lakh youth by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This mobile and tablet will be provided under the UP Smartphone Tablet Yojana. The distribution of tablets and smartphones will be done through Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. Under the first phase, an order worth Rs 2035 crore was issued by the Uttar Pradesh government for the purchase of mobiles and laptops. In which 10.5 lakh mobiles will be purchased at the rate of Rs 10740 and 7 lakh 20 thousand tablets at the rate of Rs 12606. About 18 lakh mobiles and tablets will be supplied by the companies soon.
