Govt approves continuation of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme for next 5-years

In keeping with the Government's emphasis on “SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas, –SabkaVishwas, SabkaPrayaas”, the scope of NATS has further been expanded to include students from Humanities, Science, and Commerce besides students from the engineering stream. This scheme aims to raise the standards of skill level by strengthening the skill ecosystem and as a result, will provide employment to approximately 7 lakh youths in the next five years.

The NATS will provide apprenticeships in the emerging areas under ‘Production Linked Incentive’ (PLI) such as Mobile manufacturing, Medical devices manufacturing, Pharma sector, Electronics/Technology products, Automobile sector, etc. The scheme will also be preparing skilled manpower for connectivity/logistics industry sectors, identified under GatiShakti.

 National Apprenticeship Training Scheme grants an opportunity for candidates to get qualified in some of the best companies in the Central, State, and Private Sectors. Students who have qualified graduation in engineering or diploma in engineering are eligible to apply for Apprenticeship Training. To apply for the NATS national apprenticeship training scheme candidates need to enroll themselves with the NATS web Portal (national apprenticeship training scheme portal).

National Apprentice Training Scheme (NATS) is governed by the Board of Apprenticeship Training/Practical Training, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Indian Government. It is a National Scheme for granting skill practice to newly qualified graduates and Diploma holders in Engineering and Technology.

There are in total 126 streams or courses for graduate/diploma candidates for which coaching is provided. The duration of training is for one year. 50% of the allowance granted during the nats training session, is refunded to the company by the Government of India.
