About PM Matsya Sampada Yojana


Matsya Sampada Yojana was launched by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji on 10 September 2020 through a video conferencing. An amount of Rs 20,050 crore has been earmarked by the government for the successful implementation of this scheme. From 2021 to 2025, the government aims to promote fisheries in the country so that the income of fish farmers increases and they can earn their living.

Through this scheme, additional 700,000 tonnes of fish production will be boosted by 2025, which will double the income of fishermen.
Through this scheme additional 5500000 direct and indirect gainful employment opportunities will be created in the fisheries sector.

Fishermen can apply till February 15

Fishermen of Neemuch district can apply till November 15

On 25 September 2021, Union Minister of State for Ports Shantanu Thakur announced the construction of a cruise terminal. A big relief has been provided by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji to the farmers and fishermen involved in fisheries. 2523.41 lakh proposal got approval

It was told by the Minister of Fisheries, Purushottam Rupali, that the proposals of Rs 2523.41 lakh for the cultivation of seaweed have been approved by the government. It was informed by the Minister that earlier the Fisheries Department had given this approval for Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Union States, but during the current financial year 2020-21, the Andaman and Nicobar Deep Group as well as Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman And the areas of Diu have also been granted military clearance for this cultivation. Components Of PMMSY

Some of the two major components of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana are as follows:-

Central Sector Scheme- The entire expenditure of PMMSY in this component will be borne by the Central Government.
Centrally Sponsored Scheme- According to this component 90% of the expenditure will be borne by the Government and rest 10% will be borne by the State Government.

Implementation of PM Matsya Sampada Yojana
As we all know that under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana launched by the Central Government, the production of fisheries will be promoted in the country. The main objective of starting this scheme is to increase the income of fishermen and to advance the fishery sector in the country. Therefore, an amount of Rs 20,050 has been set by the government for the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The benefit of this scheme was provided to about 2 million livestock farmers in the financial year 2019-20. Under this scheme, a target of 20 lakh metric tonnes has been set by the government for the financial year 2023-24. Cluster or area based approach will be used for the implementation of PMMSY.
Techniques like Circle Africa Culture System, Bio Flock Cage Culture, etc. will be used to increase the production.
Special attention will be given to the development of cold water and expansion of aquaculture in brackish and brackish areas.
Various activities such as marine agriculture, seaweed cultivation and ornamental fisheries will be undertaken to generate huge employment opportunities.
Simultaneously with the development of area specific development plans in J&K, Ladakh, Dipu Northeast and Priya 10 districts, special emphasis will be given on fisheries.
