Nurseries of the Rajasthan Forest department are developing hundreds and thousands of medicinal plant saplings that shall soon be gifted to state residents. Medicinal Plant Saplings Gift Campaign in Rajasthan
Rajasthan Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana was announced in the recent budget by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The massive plant gift campaign is intended to bolster the beneficial relationship between plants and people. These plants have been native to Rajasthan and have traditionally been used as health supplements and in herbal medicines. As part of the campaign the plant saplings will be provided with information on their upkeep and proper use.
Rajasthan is rich in biodiversity and is home to several medicinal plants. The Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana of the state government will help in conservation of this natural wealth and help people understand the importance of herbs and plants around them for health.
What is Rajasthan Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana 2022:-
Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana aims to reach out to all 1,26,50,000 (as per 2011 census) households residing in the state. The mega scheme will provide an opportunity to all the families to take home the saplings of four selected medicinal herbs:-
Basil
Giloy
Kalmegh
ashwamedha
In the five-year period of the scheme, each family would be entitled to receive 24 saplings, starting with 8 plants in the first year, which totals to more than 30 crore saplings. In the first year of the scheme, 50% of the families will be benefited, whose number will be around 63 lakh 25000. A target has been set to prepare 5 crore 60 lakh saplings for these families, on which about Rs 31 crore 40 lakh will be spent. In the second year of the scheme, the same number of families will be benefited. A target has been set to prepare 10 crore 12 lakh saplings for them. On which about 62 crore 80 lakh rupees will be spent. Altogether, in this 5-year scheme, 8-8 medicinal plants will be provided to all the families of the state thrice, on which a total amount of Rs 210 crore will be spent.
Implementation of Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana
Several of the state government departments are contributing to make the Rajasthan Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana a success. While the Forest Department is the nodal department for the scheme, district level task forces have been constituted in all districts under their respective District Collectors to ensure due implementation at ground level. The Massive Medicinal Plant Saplings Gift Campaign will be monitored by state level committee headed by the state chief secretary.
Rajasthan Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana Fund Allocation
A fund of Rs. 210 crore has been sanctioned by the state government for the five year scheme, of which Rs. 31.4 crore will be spent in first year for distributing more than 5 crore saplings among half of the households in state. The following year an equal number of saplings will be distributed among remaining families.
Benefits of Rajasthan Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana
Through this scheme, medicinal plants will be given to every family in the state.
About 1.26 crore families of the state will get benefit under the scheme.
Under the Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana, the power available to the people will be increased so that people can remain healthy.
The people of the state will be made aware under the scheme.
The government has set a target to run this scheme from 2021 to 2024.
Under this scheme, two medicinal plants will be given to the people of each family in the state.
