PM Vishwakarma Yojana 2023: ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an important step. The main objective of this scheme is to revolutionize the support and promotion of traditional artisans in India. Under this scheme, an initial budget of between ₹13,000 and ₹15,000 crore has been allocated. The main objective of ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ is to give a new lease of life to many old skills including carpentry, goldsmithing, stonemasonry, laundry, hairdressing and other artisans. Through this, efforts are being made to make the communal artisans economically stronger.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana on his birthday, which is 17 September 2023. Under this scheme, 6 days free training will be provided by the government to low level artisans. Besides, they will also be given some financial assistance to start their own employment. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the beneficiary must have some necessary documents.
Through this scheme recently launched by the Central Government, a large population belonging to the Vishwakarma community will benefit. The scheme has been named after Lord Vishwakarma, which will make the members of this community feel proud. As per the information, there are about 140 castes under Vishwakarma community, which are settled in different areas of India. Under this scheme, people belonging to these communities will get an opportunity to hone their skills, will be helped in acquiring technical education, and will also be provided financial assistance by the government. Under this scheme, an economic assistance package for traditional artisans and craftsmen has been announced in the Central Budget.
Objective/Benefits of PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana :-
The main objective of Vishwakarma Yojana is to help preserve traditional skills and encourage a new sense of pride and appreciation for the vital skills of artisans. The scheme promises a strong financial support for traditional artisans and women.
The scheme has a sanction of Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000 crore for the first phase, giving traditional artisans access to the resources needed to expand their businesses, invest in equipment, and enhance their crafts.
Many benefits will be provided under this scheme, which are as follows:
Benefits to artisans of various business sectors: Under this scheme, carpenters, tailors, basket weavers, barbers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, potters, confectioners, and other lower level artisans will get economic benefits.
Free Training: 6 days free training will also be provided to interested artisans to learn their favorite work, thereby improving their skills.
Financial assistance: Those who want to expand their business will also be provided financial assistance ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹10 lakh as per requirement, which will help in the establishment and development of their business.
Benefit to large population: The government has promised to provide benefits under this scheme to more than 15000 artisans every year, which will benefit a large population.
Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity Card: Beneficiaries under the scheme will also be provided with Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity Card, which will help in their identification.
Daily Stipend: The beneficiaries will be given Rs 500 as daily stipend during the training, which will help during the training for skill enhancement.
Advanced Toolkit: Rs 15,000 will be provided to purchase advanced toolkit, which will help them further upgrade their business.
Marketing Assistance: Beneficiaries will also be provided assistance in marketing their business, which will help in making their products reach more people.
Who will get the benefit of PM Vishwakarma Yojana and how? :-
Under the scheme, benefits will be provided to the following categories of artisans:
Carpenter (Suthar): Carpenter artisans will be provided financial assistance and skill development facility under the scheme.
Boat Makers: Boat making artisans will be given financial assistance to expand and develop their business.
Armor Maker: Armor making artisans will be provided financial assistance to strengthen their business.
Blacksmith: Blacksmith artisans will be given financial assistance to improve and develop their business.
Hammer and tool kit makers: Artisans making hammer and tool kits will be provided financial assistance to expand and improve their business.
Locksmith: Locksmith artisans will be given financial assistance to strengthen their business.
Goldsmith: Goldsmith artisans will be provided financial assistance to improve and develop their business.
Potter: Potter artisans will be given financial assistance to expand and improve their business.
Sculptor/Stone Carver/Stone Breaker: Sculptor, stone carver, and stone breaker artisans will be provided financial assistance to strengthen their business.
Mochi (Footwear Artisans): Cobblers, shoe makers, and footwear artisans will be provided financial assistance to expand and improve their business.
Masons: Mason artisans will be given financial assistance to strengthen their business.
Apart from these, artisans like basket maker / mat maker / broom maker / doll and toy maker / barber / garland maker / washerman / tailor and fishing net maker will get the benefit of Vishwakarma Yojana.

Following are the eligibility conditions for Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana:
Indian Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen to be eligible for this scheme.
Minimum Age: You must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
No prior loan: Applicants should not have any prior loan from credit based schemes under the scheme.
Occupation or Skills: You will need to provide information related to occupation or skills at the time of your application, and this will be part of the processing of your application.
How to fill Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana form (Apply Online) :-
Following is the process of filling (registration) online form of PM Vishwakarma Yojana:
First of all, visit the official website of PM Vishwakarma Yojana, whose URL is: https://pmvishwakarma.gov.in/
Click on “Login” option in the menu of the website.
On the login page, click on “CSC Login” and then click on “Register Artisans”.
Now you will get the option to login with your CSC ID details. Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
Register by doing OTP verification and Aadhaar eKYC.
Once you register through the option, PM Vishwakarma Yojana Registration Form will open. You have to enter your address, occupation, bank account details, and all other necessary details in it.
Then submit your application form.
After this process, you can download PM Vishwakarma ID and Certificate.
