The Government of Andhra Pradesh launched the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme in the year 2007 to develop the financial funds for poor people who are not able to take into consideration the medical bills of their surgeries or treatments. The YSR Aarogyasri scheme was launched by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state in the year of 2017 and since then the scheme has been providing financial funds to all of the people of the state, mainly those who are poor and are basically below the poverty line. Through the implementation of this scheme, many benefits have been provided to all of the beneficiaries in Andhra Pradesh state. One of the main benefits of the scheme was the cashless treatment in most of the government hospitals of Andhra Pradesh state.
As you all know that under the YSR Aarogyasri scheme cashless medical treatment is provided to the beneficiaries. Under this scheme, if the bill of the hospital is more than Rs 1000 then all those people who are having Aarogyasri card can avail of free health Care Services. Till now more than 1 lakh corona patients have benefited through this scheme since the onset of the coronavirus epidemic. The Andhra Pradesh government has spent Rs 309 crore in order to provide health care benefits to 19033 corona patients. In some cases, the medical bills paid by the Andhra Pradesh Government were higher than the annual family income of the beneficiaries.
The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched the YSR Aarogyasri scheme. Under this scheme, if the medical treatment expenses exceed Rs 1000 then the cost of treatment will be borne by the Andhra Pradesh government. Now the government has decided to extend this scheme. Previously YSR Aarogyasri Scheme was operational in the 7 districts of Andhra Pradesh. Now the remaining districts of Andhra Pradesh that is Srikakulam, East Godavari, Krishna, Nellore, Chittoor, and Anantapur will also come under this scheme. There were more than 1500 diseases covered under the YSR Aarogyasri scheme now 234 more diseases have been added to the Aarogyasri scheme which covers around 2200 diseases so far.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must only have less than 35 acres of land, including wet and dry land.
- The applicant must have municipal property tax-paying families for less than 3000 SFT (334 sq. Yds).
- Outsourcing, contract, part-time employees, and sanitation workers with an annual income of over Rs 5 lakh are also eligible.
- The applicant can also be Honorary remuneration employees and private sector employees working in the public sector.
- If the applicant has more than one car then they are not eligible for the scheme.
- Families filing income tax up to Rs 5 lakh are also eligible.

The Aarogyasri project which was started in January in West Godavari district, with 2059 medical ailments and only 1059 procedures were provided is now going to be extended. Monday 13th June 2020 extension order was given by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to the officials. Now from July 16, 2020, the pilot project of the state government of Andhra Pradesh has been extended to six more districts namely Kadapa, Kurnool, Prakasam, Guntur, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam to those whose medical expenses exceed Rs 1,000. The number of medical ailments increased from1059 from to 2200, including cancer care services.
Finance Minister B Rajendranath Reddy announced the budget in the state Assembly held on Tuesday, 16th June 2020 at Velagapudi. The budget of Rs 2,24,789.18 crore has been allocated for various welfare schemes. The major highlight of the budget for the upcoming financial year 2020-2021 is the 21 welfare schemes run by the Andhra Pradesh government under the name of Late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. In the state budget for the coming year, funds ofRs 11,419 crores have been released for the health sector.
The main objective of the implementation of the YSR Arogyasri Scheme was to provide financial funds to all of the poor people of the Andhra Pradesh state who are not able to pay their Medical fees or are not able to undertake or undergo surgeries that are essential for their healthy life. Through the implementation of this scheme, the death ratio in Andhra Pradesh will decline thoroughly. Many diseases have been included under the scheme for the smooth functioning of the initiative.
As mentioned above the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme was launched in the year of 2017 by the then Chief Minister of the Andhra Pradesh state. Now in the upcoming year 2020, a new revamped version of the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme is launched by the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state that is Mr. YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy. The new revamp of the scheme has launched on 3rd January 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for all the common public.
A revamp of the YSR Aarogyasari scheme has been launched by the concerned authorities of Andhra Pradesh state. The scheme is the inclusion of hospitals through which the beneficiaries can avail the benefit of the scheme. Now you can avail yourself of the benefit of the scheme in the government hospitals of Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Now, medical assistance will also be provided to the patients who have their medical bills exceeding rupees 1000. Inclusion of more than 2000 diseases will be done under the scheme also health centers will be developed for the patients.
“AP YSR Aarogyasri Scheme 2022” has been launched to provide health benefits and assistance to the BPL category families of the state through the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Jaganmohan Reddy. The main objective of starting the AP Aarogyasri scheme is to provide free health assistance to the people of the state in government hospitals so that they all can live their life well. Under the “AP YSR Aarogyasri Scheme 2022”, assistance is given by the state government to those families whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh and all of them have agricultural land less than 12 acres. Along with this, all the couples who jointly have less than 35 acres of agricultural land and do not have any other property of their own, of them are provided the benefit of Arogyashri Yojana.
The AP Arogyasree scheme was launched by the Andhra Pradesh government for those people who cannot afford health care facilities. Under this scheme, various financial assistance will be provided to these people so that they can pay their medical bills. All the beneficiaries of “The AP YSR Aarogyasri Scheme 2022 will also be able to do the surgery without worrying about their finances. The government has also launched Arogyashri Health Card for the people so that the scheme runs smoothly. Arogyashri card holders can avail benefits by visiting any government hospital.
A cashless medical treatment facility is provided to the beneficiaries under the YSR Arogyasree scheme. If the hospital bill of a beneficiary under the scheme is less than ₹ 1000, he can still get the benefit of free health facilities through the Arogyashri card. After some time, with the arrival of the Kovid virus, the treatment of Kovid infection was also included under this scheme. So far more than one lakh covid patients have been treated under the AP Arogyasree scheme. An amount of Rs 309 crore has been spent by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh on the health care of 19033 Kovid patients. This has been done in cases where the number of medical bills exceeds the annual family income of the beneficiaries.
YSR Arogyasree Scheme has been launched by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy. According to the rules of this scheme, if the cost of treatment of a beneficiary is more than ₹ 1000, then this expenditure will be borne by the Andhra Pradesh government. Now the Andhra Pradesh government has increased the scope of the AP Arogyasree scheme from 7 districts to all the districts of the state with the aim of taking this scheme forward. Now the benefit of YSR Arogyasree Yojana will also be extended to the remaining districts of the state like Srikakulam, East Godavari, Krishna, Nellore, Chittoor, and Anantapur. Earlier more than 1500 diseases were covered under AP Arogyashri Yojana. But now 234 diseases have been added to this list. So now around 2200 diseases are covered under this scheme.
