The Punjab government has hiked the grant for the marriage of daughters of construction workers from Rs 31,000 to Rs 51,000 under its Shagun Scheme. Further, to ease the process of availing the benefit of the scheme, the chief minister has approved modifications in the existing conditions to make valid marriage certificates issued by any religious body, gurdwaras, temples and churches, acceptable for the purpose. While 50% payment can be availed in advance, the rest shall be provided on submission of the marriage certificate by the competent authority under the revised rules.

Financial assistance (subsidy) at the following rates is given by the Punjab Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board in the State of Punjab to its registered beneficiary Construction Workers and their family workers for spectacles, denture and hearing aid:-
Financial Assistance Scheme for the care of mentally retarded children (son/daughter) of construction workers @ 20,000/- per year. A certificate of being the child mentally retarded or handicapped obtained from the senior medical officer of the government hospital or ESI hospital is to be uploaded on the web portal of the Board.
