The government has been coming up with thousands of schemes across the country to address the electricity problem. And there has been a lot of improvement in the electricity system in the country, but people still face the problem of high electricity bills. In such a situation, the Chhattisgarh government has started a scheme related to electricity bill, named 'Electricity Bill Half Scheme'. Under this scheme, people are being given 50% discount on their electricity bills. In this scheme, it has been decided that consumers who have not yet paid their remaining electricity bills will not be able to take advantage of this scheme. Features of Electricity Bill Half Scheme:-
Freedom from high electricity bills:- Due to the introduction of this scheme, those domestic consumers who used to have high electricity bills, have now got relief from it. Now they do not have to pay much money for this.
50% rebate in electricity bill:- The main feature of this scheme is that in this scheme, 50% rebate in electricity bill has been provided to the citizens of the state. This means that where people used to pay Rs 1000, now they have to pay only Rs 500.
Rebate on consumption of 400 units of electricity:- In this scheme, 50% electricity rebate has been given to those who consume 400 units of electricity. No exemption has been given to those who consume more electricity than this.
For those who consume more electricity:- If a person consumes electricity between 401 to 1000 units, then he is also given some discount in this scheme which is 25%.
Objective of the scheme:- By starting this scheme, the government has taken the decision of not giving the benefits of the scheme to those who do not pay the outstanding electricity bills, to motivate the people to pay the electricity bills on time. And this is also the main objective of this scheme.
Regular payment:- After availing the benefit of this scheme, if the consumer does not pay electricity regularly. Then he will stop getting further benefits of the scheme.
Financial relief to consumers:- Through this scheme, such domestic consumers whose financial condition is not good are getting special relief.
Eligibility Criteria in Electricity Bill Half Scheme:-
Resident of Chhattisgarh state:- Only natives of Chhattisgarh can avail the benefit of this electricity bill half scheme. No one else is eligible in this scheme.
For those who do not pay the outstanding electricity bill:- This essential eligibility has been prescribed to avail the benefits of this scheme. Those who do not pay the outstanding electricity bill will not be provided any discount under this scheme, unless They do not pay their electricity bill in full. As soon as they pay their entire electricity bill, they will start getting the benefits of this scheme from the next month itself.
Required Documents to avail the benefit of Electricity Bill Half Scheme (Required Documents):-
Native Certificate:- To avail the benefits of this scheme, applicants may need their native certificate.
Old electricity bill: Apart from the domicile certificate, consumers can keep a photocopy of the old electricity bill with them as proof that they have paid their old electricity bill.
Identity Documents:- For your identity in this scheme, it is important that you keep copies of documents like your Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Ration Card etc. with you, because you may need any of these documents.

The benefits of this scheme are reaching those consumers in such a way that a software has been updated in the spot billing machine. Under which, if up to 400 units of electricity is used, it automatically issues the bill by giving a discount of 50%. And then it is delivered to the consumers.
Therefore, if your bill is still outstanding then only the outstanding electricity bill will come to your house. And if you have paid the entire bill, then the electricity bill with 50% discount will automatically be delivered to your home.
