Some important terms and conditions to take advantage of Balika Samridhi Yojana

  • The amount of benefit under this scheme is directly transferred to the girl child's account through Direct Benefit Transfer.
  • If the girl child has died before attaining the age of 18 years, then the amount available in her account can be withdrawn.
  • If the girl child gets married before attaining the age of 18 years, the girl child will have to forfeit the scholarship amount and the interest earned thereon. She can only take a post-birth grant and interest thereon.
  • Only unmarried girl children can take benefit from this scheme. To get the benefit of this scheme, the beneficiary has to submit a certificate in which it will be proved that the girl child is unmarried. This certificate will be issued by the Municipality or the Gram Panchayat.
  • Under Balika Samridhi Yojana 2021, the girl child can also withdraw the permanent amount after completing 18 years of age.
  • The grant or scholarship can be used to pay the premium of an insurance policy under the Bhagyashree Balika Kalyan Bima Yojana in the name of the girl child.

It has been told by the postal superintendent from there that till now more than 16000 girls' Sukanya accounts have been opened in the Jaisalmer district. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary informed that proper audio-video electronic and print media publicity of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is being done. At the same time, account opening campaigns are also being started by the postal department from time to time for the information of the public. Through this process, about 19535 villages of the state have been declared as Sampoorna Sukanya Grams. Simultaneously, at least 5 villages were identified as Sampoorna Sukanya Gram in this campaign.

A first step was taken to make Allahabad Division Samridhi Bhawan. Under which more than 16000 Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened by Anganwadi workers and helpers in about a quarter of a month. Earlier only 15341 accounts were opened by postal workers in 3 years. But under the recent special drive, the Allahabad division has been ranked second out of 46 divisions of Uttar Pradesh. From the year 2018 to the year 2020, about 15341 accounts have been opened. According to sources, the average account opening is found to be around 5100 accounts. Better support from Anganwadi workers has been received in opening the account of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
