Gujarat govt has announced 8 new schemes to provide financial assistance to people of the Unreserved Category.

Any person from the general category may take out a loan of up to Rs. 10 lakh at 4% interest for admission to GUEEDC college in self-financed medical, engineering, pharmacy, nursing, architecture, and other technical courses. For this, the applicant’s annual family income must not exceed Rs. 3 lakh p.a. and must have secured at least 60% in the 11th and 12th grades.

GUEEDC will also provide candidates who want to pursue higher studies in foreign countries with educational loans of up to Rs. 15 lakh at a 4 percent interest rate. For this, in the 12th class, applicants must have earned at least 60% points, and the annual family must be less than Rs. 4.5 lakh p.a.

All Class 10 meritorious students who have earned more than 70 percent marks and are studying in Class 11 and 12 in the Science Stream will earn Rs. 15,000 p.m. Such assistance will be offered as tuition fees from the organization. This will also be named the Sahayata System of Tuition.

As we all know that there is no quota system available for the ones who belong to the general category. Hence they get deprived of most of the benefits given by the state govt. to the people. State govt. of Gujarat has announced around 8 new schemes which will provide benefits to the people who belong to the general category of the state.  Govt. will provide job facilities, education facilities, and self-employment opportunities to the EWS people of the general category.

From these 8 schemes, 7 schemes are for the ones whose income is less than 3 lakh rupees per annum.  From the total of 6.5 crore residents of the state, around 1.5 crore residents are not eligible for any reservation. Therefore for their welfare state govt. department of Gujarat Unreserved Educational & Economical Development Corporation will implement these schemes with a budget of Rs. 600 crore.

Now any person who belongs to the general category can take a loan of up to 10 lakh on a 4% rate of interest to get admission in self-financed medical, engineering, pharmacy, nursing, architecture, and other technical courses in colleges from GUEEDC. The annual income of the family must be equal to or less than 3 lakh per annum and the applicant's score in the 11th and 12th class must not be less than 60% only then you can apply for the scheme.

Gujarat Govt. announces 8 schemes for students and young entrepreneurs from economically backward sections of general category communities who do not get the benefit of reservations. For a long, people belonging to ST, SC, OBC, and minority groups have attained the perks of government reservations. Most developmental schemes are designed for these people. But there are millions who require the same financial assistance for better education and livelihood but don’t get any as they belong to the general category. General category people have long demanded special reforms, under which financially weak general applicants can attain benefits. Thus, the Gujarat government has launched eight new projects, which will offer financial aid to general category applicants only.

General information about the schemes

  1. For the development of unreserved categories – All these schemes have been designed and developed for the betterment of Gujarat residents that fall in general categories.
  2. A total number of beneficiaries – With the implementation of these projects, the Gujarat government will be able to offer financial assistance to as many as 1.5 crore people. These individuals do not come under any form of reservation.
  3. A number of castes included – It has been mentioned that the state government will include 58 castes. These don’t fall under any reservation category. With the implementation of these projects, even unreserved applicants will attain financial benefits.

List of newly launched schemes

  1. Education Credit Scheme – State education board wants to develop the overall academic status in Gujarat. Many studious candidates from the general category cannot pursue their education due to a lack of money. There was no scheme to assist them. But now Gujarat government will offer educational loans to students who belong to general categories as well. If any applicant wants to take admitted to private medical, engineering, nursing, architectural college, or any self-financed technical course, he/she can attain a credit of Rs. 10 lakhs. Students will not have to worry about high repayment as interest will be charged at 4% only. But only those students, who have attained 60% in class 11 and final school-leaving exam, will get this benefit. The overall family income of the families of these applicants must be within Rs. 3 lakhs.
  2. Foreign Studies Scheme – The state government will also offer financial assistance, in the form of a loan to meritorious candidates that want to study in other countries. Such applicants need to secure at least 60% in the 12th standard final examination. Each selected applicant will receive Rs. 15 lakhs from the state government. Interest on this credit will be calculated at 4%. Another eligibility is only those candidates will be able to apply whose yearly family income does not cross Rs. 4.5 lakhs mark.
  3. Tuition Assistance Scheme – Gujarat government will also offer money to bright students to meet their tuition needs. It has been announced that all such students that belong to the general category and have passed the 10th standard, and is pursuing education in the science stream in the 11th and 12th will receive Rs. 15,000 each month. Only those students will be able to apply who have attained 70% or more in the final examination of class 10.
  4. Monthly Assistance Scheme for Hostel Students – Students belonging to reserved categories get financial assistance from the state and central government for staying in hostels. But there was nothing for general category students. Gujarat government is all set to offer monthly financial aid of Rs. 1200 to all general category students, who stay in private hostels. But the annual income of the applicant’s parents must not be more than Rs. 3 lakhs. This amount will be offered to these candidates for ten consecutive months.
  1. Coaching Aid for 12th Candidates – School students, desirous to enter the engineering or medical profession, have to sit for JEE or NEET examinations. Gujarat government has announced a new scheme that will offer poor general category students of class 12 coaching assistance. Each applicant will receive Rs. 20,000 during an academic year to pay for these examination preparations.
  2. Tutoring Aid for Graduation Candidates – Most graduate students try their luck in the government job sector. But a lot of preparation is necessary for succeeding in these competitive examinations. Poor general category students, after passing their graduation will attain Rs. 20,000 from the state government, if they want to take admitted to a competitive examination coaching center.
  3. Advocate & Doctor Loans – Advocates and medical practitioners require money to establish an office from where they can practice. All financially weak general category applicants will acquire a credit of Rs. 10 lakhs. This credit can be used to construct a clinic or office.
  4. Self-Employment Scheme – All eligible applicants of this state who desire to earn their livelihood, not by depending on any job, but by starting a business venture, will be offered financial assistance from the state authority. Each youngster, with a definite business plan, will acquire Rs. 10 lakh as credit. The state authority will charge interest at only 5%. In case the applicant is female, she will have to pay interest at 4.5% only.

GUEEDC will also provide educational loans up to Rs. 15 lakh at a 4% interest rate to candidates who want to pursue higher studies in foreign countries. For this, candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in the 12th class and the annual family must be less than Rs. 4.5 lakh p.a.

Under this scheme, the state govt. is focusing on the creation of self-employment opportunities. Anyone who wants to start their own business such as grocery trade or transportation can get loans up to Rs. 10 lakh at a 5% interest rate. For women, the interest rate for the same amount is 4% p.a. These self-employment loan schemes include Vahan Loan Sahay Yojana, Nana Vyavasay Mate Loan Yojana, Transport / Logistics / Travel / Food Court Vyaaj Sahaay Scheme.

Medical courses in the state, Dental Self Financed Bachelor's courses for Professional Courses, Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Architecture, Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, Physiotherapy, Veterinary courses, Nursing (Bachelor's) courses, etc. For Higher Courses such as BBA, BAC, BA, etc.), the total tuition fee of Rs. 0.00 lakh and it will be given from a 4 percent simple interest loan according to the corporation, which of the two is less.

Eligibility and credit criteria for educational plans

  • Must have passed from any school in Gujarat state with 60% or more in standard 12.
  • The loan will be eligible for the curriculum which is affiliated with the syllabus of that course.
  • The applicant should be from Gujarat and must be non-reserved.
  • Proof of admission in the affiliated curriculum will be presented.
  • The interest rate of interest will be 4% per annum. Lending will be given per year. Accordingly, the simple interest will be counted.
  • The widow and orphan beneficiary will have to give preference to the applicant.
  • Loans for non-lecturers who have left the study period or who have not passed the degree will be eligible for reimbursement together and interest subsidy will not be available.
  • The annual family income limit for the state's educational plans will be 6.00 lakhs.

Loan repayment:

  • In case of a total loan up to Rs.5.00 lakhs, after one year of completion of the study, the loan amount will be paid in the interest of one monthly installment in the 5 (five) years.
  • In case of a loan of more than Rs.5.00 lakh, after one year of completion of the study, the loan amount will be filled in the interest of one monthly installment in 6 (six) years with interest.
  • The repayment loan will be credited to the first interest.
  • The loan can be repaid even before the time taken by the lender.
