The state of Uttar Pradesh has launched many schemes for the benefit of its citizens. These schemes have helped many citizens and the state is developing. One of the schemes launched by the state for their citizen is Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana. This scheme is for the welfare of the farmers. Some of the other schemes launched by the state for the welfare of farmers are Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Kisan Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Pashu Palan Yojana, and other farmer welfare schemes.

All the schemes launched by the state are to improve the economic condition of farmers. Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana scheme was approved by the Uttar Pradesh cabinet.

Under this scheme, if the death of a farmer occurs due to any reason doing farming, then the state government will compensate him Rs. 5 lakhs. If the farmer is more than 60% disabled, he will be compensated with Rs. 2 lakhs. The scheme is for the benefit of the farmers who are the sole earners of their families. In many families, when the sole earner dies then the bearer of the family suffers a lot financially.

Key features of the scheme – Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana is for the welfare of the farmers. Farmers who die during farming will be compensated with Rs. 5 lakhs. Farmers who are handicapped will be compensated more. The scheme will apply to farmers who are between 18 years of age to 70 years of age.

The beneficiaries of the scheme are farmers and their families. The major benefit of the scheme is the financial support and assistance to the deceased farmers. The scheme is launched by the Uttar Pradesh government and comes under the state government.

To register for the scheme, the farmer and his family have to write an application addressing the district collector. This application form submitted by the farmer will have all the details regarding the incident or accident that caused the death of the farmer. This application is to be submitted to the Tehsil office within the time specified in the scheme guidelines. All the documents specified including the death certificate or disability certificate of the farmer are to be attached.

The scheme will cover the following beneficiaries –

  • Account holder, farmer
  • The farmer cultivates on someone else’s land.
  • Sharecroppers who work in someone else’s field.
  • The farmer includes a father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, granddaughter, daughter-in-law, and grandson.

Documents required for the scheme

The documents required for the scheme are as under-

  • Residential certificate and documents supporting permanent residence of the farmer or beneficiary.

Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme It is going to be started by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Aditya Nath. Under this scheme, the farmers of the state who have been victims of an accident will be provided social security by the Uttar Pradesh government. UP Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana Under this scheme, if a farmer dies in an accident, the government will give compensation up to Rs 5 lakh to his family (His family will be compensated up to Rs 5 lakh) and 60 Financial assistance up to a maximum of Rs 2 lakh will be provided on the disability exceeding the percentage.

To provide social security to the farmers of Uttar Pradesh, this scheme has been approved in the cabinet meeting held in Lucknow on Tuesday, 21 January 2020.     Farmers or their family members can write an application to the district collector. This application must contain all the detailed information about the accident that occurred to the farmers. The written request must be submitted to the Tehsil office within the time frame specified below. After proper verification by the authorities, the amount of the aid will be transferred to the farmers or their family members on a case-by-case basis.

    To successfully implement the scheme, the government of Uttar Pradesh will launch a dedicated portal soon. People will be able to register online portal, and not all farmers or their family members who have chosen the online method are required to visit Tehsil’s office or write an application to the collector. With the help of this scheme, more than 2 crores, 38 lakhs 22 thousand farmers fall under this scheme.

    So to secure the future of such farmer’s families the UP cabinet in their cabinet meeting which was held on 21st January 2020 approve the “Chief Minister Farmer Accident welfare scheme”. In this scheme, if a farmer dies or is disabled while doing farming then his/her family members will get five lakh and two lakh rupees respectively as compensation. For this scheme, the Uttar Pradesh government also allocates the budget of Rs 500 Crore while announcing the budget for 2020-2021 on Tuesday 18th February 2020.

    The scheme which the Uttar Pradesh government has launched is not the new one, earlier a similar kind of scheme was run by the revenue department of Uttar Pradesh under the name of “chief minister farmer insurance accident scheme”. But in that scheme benefit will be given to only the account holder farmer or the co-account holder. But that scheme has been revived now; in the new scheme, the benefit will be transferred to the wife of the farmer, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, or even the sharecroppers.
