Class Time Schedule as Per Karnataka Vidyagama Scheme

A provision has been made to set the timetable of classes in three sections every 45 minutes. According to the plan released by the Department of Primary and Secondary Education, the timetable of the students is organized as follows-

• Class 10th- Timings from 10 am to 12.30 am Mon, Tue, Tue, Thurs, Fri and Saturdays from 8.30 am to 11.15 am. Students in all these 8 groups will attend classes on 8 subjects.
• Classes 8th and 9th- in batches, classes will be open on alternate days from 2 PM noon to 4.30 PM. A provision has been made to divide the students taking admission in this session into 8 groups for 8 different subjects.
• Class 1 to 7- Timings from 10 am to 12.30 am on alternate days on weekdays and 8 am to 11.15 am on Saturdays.
• A provision has been made to divide all the schools from class 1 to 5 to students from class 1 to 3 and 4 to 5 under alternate days. A circular of the schedule mentions that schools that confuse students from classes 1 to 8 have made a provision to split sessions for classes 1 to 5 and 6 to 8 on alternate days.

Guidelines Under Vidyagama Scheme

• According to the guidelines, the school for the students of classes 10th and 12th will start on 1st January 2021.
• As for class 11th classes will start on 15 January 2021.
• The Vidyagama Scheme for the students of classes 6 to 9 will start on 1st January 2021 and for classes 1 to 5, it will begin on 15 January 2021.
• The choice of sending children to school or not will be given to the parents
• The final decision to open the school will be given on 28 December and 29 December 2020 after the emergence of the new phase of the virus.
• Teachers before visiting the school will have to get a negative covid-19 test report
• The classes will be held and shift that is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. during alternative days
• There will be regular classes for 10th class students from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• School authorities can change their schedule according to their demand.
• The school should adopt a strict distancing rule while holding examinations every year.
• If any of the students or teachers shows any symptoms of covid-19 he or she must be isolated immediately and the information should be given to the district health authorities
• Teachers who are above the age of 50 years should use a face shield with a mask.
• Students and teachers should carry water bottles from their homes only.

The state government has clarified that the re-launch of the Karnataka Vidyagama Scheme does not mean that schools are being reopened. Such short sessions are being made available to the students to ensure that children of all classes get a proper education. Students from poor sections of the society were having difficulty in online education as they did not have smartphones or had weak networks in their areas.

For such students, the Vidyagama scheme has been released in a revised manner, which did not have the means to take online classes. In the month of August, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education started the Vidyagram program to reach students of government schools by taking classes at the doors of children’s homes in their villages.
