Benefits And Features Of UWIN Card

• For the workers who belong to the informal sector, the Government of Gujarat has launched a UWIN Card.
• Through this card, beneficiaries can take the benefit from social security schemes or programmes which are managed by EPFO and ESIC.
• It is basically a unique number which is proposed to be issued as proof of identity to the informal workers.
• Other than that, the government can also make a database of all the informal sector workers.
• Beneficiaries can register in order to get this card on the Airmen portal or app.
• Around 47 crore workers are expected to register.
• The full form of the UWIN card is an unorganised workers index number card.
• This card has been designed and developed in 2014 by the Ministry of Labour and Employment Under the unorganised worker's social security act 2008.

Eligibility Criteria Of UWIN Card

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Gujarat
• The age of the applicant should be between 18 to 60 years
• Applicant must belong to the unorganised sector
• the eligible worker must have worked as a building and another construction worker for not less than 90 days in the last 12 months

The main objective of the UWIN Card is to create a unified database of informal workers in order to provide them with social security services. With the implementation of the UWIN program identification of unorganized workers can be done. This card will also include family details through the concept of the nuclear family and the linked family which will help the government in order to launch various family-based benefits schemes. This platform will also assist in identifying and enabling the skills, development requirements, employer and worker mapping, and result-based policy formulation and decision making. With the implementation of this program, approximately 15 crore families will be benefited.

The full form of the UWIN Card is Unorganized Worker Identification Number. In 2014, the Ministry of Labor and Union Employment decided to design and develop this platform under the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act 2008. It is a unique number proposed to be issued as proof of identity to informal workers in India. It is a number that is provided to a large segment of the informal sector workers by issuing a unique identification and assigning an original Aadhaar identification number without issuing any smart cards.

All the workers from the unorganized sector will get this card with a unique number. This is basically an identity card for a construction worker. This is a secondary card which is a smart card. That will provide workers a Unique Identity, so they can use government schemes and services for their betterment.

Recently, the Gujarat State Ministry of Labor and Central Government start providing UWIN Card for the workers working in the informal sector. Every worker in the informal sector has been mandated to register themselves in this program. In this whole project, there are 47 crore Unorganized sector workers will be joined with this Smart Id Card. For this whole project, the government will spend the amount of 402.7 Crore Rupees. There are 47.41 crore workers who will be joined. In which 82.7% are from Child Labour, 17.2% from NSSC 2011-12. After making their Smart ID Card they can use many government services like EPFO add ESIC. Workers that belong to an organized sector are also able to take advantage of this scheme
