The Government of Andhra Pradesh has again come up with a new scheme for the welfare of bereaved families of primary bread earners. The name of this scheme is YSR Bheema Scheme. Under this scheme, accidental death and disability insurance will be provided to the poor and unorganized workers of Andhra Pradesh. In this article today we will share with you all the important information related to YSR Bheema Scheme 2022 such as objective eligibility criteria, important documents, benefits, and features. Also, we will share with you all the step-by-step application procedures to apply under the same scheme.

A new scheme has been created by the government of Andhra Pradesh to provide security in the accident of members of the families of poor and unorganized workers of the state. Under the YSR Bheema Scheme, an insurance amount will be provided to the person if the beneficiary dies or suffers a permanent disability. The main aim of launching this scheme is to provide relief to the bereaved families of bread earners of the family in case the family member died or became permanently disabled. Around 1.14 crore families will get the benefits from this scheme.

As we all know the death or disability of a primary bread earner brings a sudden hardship for the people of the family. And the burden of medical expenditure kept on increasing for them. By keeping this situation in mind the Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a new scheme known as YSR Bheema Scheme. Under this scheme, insurance relief will be provided to the family of bread earners in case of their death or disability. This financial assistance will help in recovering from the sudden loss of income.

The respected Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched YSR Bheema Scheme in order to provide insurance amounts to the families so as to ensure claim settlement easier. The benefit of this scheme will be provided to around 1.32 lakh families in the state. The chief minister has recently allocated Rs. 750 crores as the installment for the year 2021-22. Until now the chief minister has spent Rs. 1,307 crores on this scheme in the last two years.

The major decision was taken by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a recent meeting held on Wednesday. The decision includes that the state government will pay the insurance amount directly into the bank account of the family member. The unorganized sector beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 70 years are covered under YSR Bheema Scheme. The bread earner of the families in the age group of 18 to 50 years will get the insurance amount of Rs. 1 lakh. And the beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 70 years will be rewarded with Rs. 5 lakh insurance amount in case of accidental death.

YSR Bheema is a type of insurance scheme which was initiated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Previously the same scheme was known as Chandranna Bheema Scheme. Under YSR Bheema Scheme, an insurance facility will be provided to the workers of the unorganized sector so that in case of any permanent disability, accident, or natural death their families will not have to face financial problems. In this article, we will be discussing YSR Beema Scheme in a detailed form.

Under this scheme, 1.41 crore families working in the unorganized sector, belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL), and possessing white ration cards will get insurance cover for death and permanent disability. But for availing of the benefit of this scheme, applicants will have to deposit rupees 15 annually as a premium into the bank accounts which will be opened under the YSR Beema scheme.

Unorganized sectors refer to that sector of an economy where the terms of employment are not regular or fixed and the enterprise itself is not registered with the government. There are various government acts that do not apply to unorganized sectors and that’s why this sector remains out of the regulation of government. Some acts which are not applicable to the unorganized sector are:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the YSR Bima scheme on Wednesday. The scheme will benefit 1.14 crore, primary bread earners, in the unorganized sector. The claiming amount would be directly credited into the beneficiary bank account within 15 days of the claim being made. The Chief Minister also announced that immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 will be provided to the families through village and ward secretariats.

Volunteers will conduct door-to-door surveys for the selection process of the beneficiaries of the AP Bheema Scheme and check the scheme of white ration cardholders. It will be overseen by the Secretary of Welfare within the Secretariat. Selected beneficiaries will have to open a bank account including the nominee. Beneficiaries will have to pay a premium amount of Rs 15 per year.

All Indian statistics indicate that Andhra Pradesh is one of the States with a large number of accidents. The death or disability due to the accident of an unorganized worker results in misery for his family and hardship caused by reduced earnings and medical and other expenditures relating to the accident.

Terming the loss of a breadwinner as the worst nightmare for any family, the Chief Minister said that the State government shall stand by such families in the hard times by providing financial assistance through insurance cover.

Under this scheme, the insurance amount for accidental death and total permanent disability for people aged between 18-50 years is 5 lakh and for those between 51-70 years 3 lakh.

Similarly, for natural death cases (18-50 years) 2 lakh and for partial permanent disability in an accident case (18-70 years) 1.5 lakh assistance will be provided.

The enrolment of unorganized workers was taken up by Praja Sadhikaara Survey-2016 (Pulse Survey) by the Government in Revenue Department. 2.08 crore unorganized workers enrolled through Praja Sadhikaara Survey have been covered under 1 st year scheme.

In 2017 Praja Sadhikaara Survey has been conducting in October to cover the leftover eligible unorganized workers and in the 2 nd year under  PMJJBY/PMSBY/State Insurance Scheme 2.46 crore unorganized workers are covered.
