Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
Prime minister Narendra Modi launched Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana on 11th October 2014. This scheme aims to achieve the ideal Indian villages envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi.
This scheme focuses on developing social and physical infrastructure. It also inspires village people in the social mobilisation of the village community. The aim is to originate 5 “Adarsh Gram” or Ideal Village by 2024.
What Is Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana?
Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is a rural development program for the social and cultural development of Indian villages. Under this scheme, each member of parliament takes on a Gram Panchayat to look after its integrated progress, including social and cultural development.
What Are the Objectives of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana?
Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’s objectives are below -
- Stimulate the processes which lead to a comprehensive development of the recognised Gram Panchayat.

mplementation of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
The plan was to engage every Member of Parliament from all parties in our villages' physical and infrastructural development. Implementation of this yojana will process through the activities below -
- Each Member of Parliament will take responsibility for the holistic development of a village from their constituency. However, they cannot choose their own village.
- Every village will have a list of activities to perform. They will develop activities considering the resources and requirements of that village.
- The scheme’s guidelines must have a list of these activities.

Funding for Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
Our government did not allocate any new funds for Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The functioning bodies can draw resources for this scheme from-
- Existing schemes, such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Indira Awas Yojana, Backward Regions Grant Fund, etc.
- Gram panchayat’s revenue
- Central and State Finance Commission Grants
- The Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme
- Corporate Social Responsibility funds
The primary goal was to develop the physical infrastructure and socio-economic status of the first village by 2016. By the end of 2019, 2 more Adarsh Villages must be ready and 5 more by 2019 to 2024. This indicates that each MP should develop a total number of 6,433 Adarsh Grams of 2,65,000 gram panchayats.
